- One night, while i was home and browsing my Facebook. i got a call from our radio informing me to hurry and go to our fire station since there's a fire in a nearby city who needed our help as volunteers.
- but what if there's someone in need?
- when I received that call, I rushed there and while I was driving... I thought about my responsibilities as a fire volunteer and what I should do based on our rules...
- I'll be following our guide this time
- THE STORY
- when I got at our fire station, I immediately packed my things and we rushed right away...
- When we got there. A lot of fire has already spread.
- help us! please save our home!
- help us!
- People were evacuating and saving as many things they can still get.
- when suddenly...
- THE PROBLEM
- you see.. as a volunteer when there's a lot of burning houses. our main priority is to cut the fire from where it's already burning. we should spray water to those houses who haven't got burned yet but is near the actual fire so when the fire reaches it, there's already a layer of water covering the house and it would slow the fire from burning that home so that got me thinking....
- what about our rules?
- should I prioritize this mans house and risk other people getting angry at me?
- Please! spray the water at my house! it's already burning!
- I was able to put out the fire on the man's house. fortunately only 1 room was affected as i was able to put it out.although there we're residents who got angry at me for prioritizing him . In the end i was able to help and we got to put out the fire immediately with my critical thinking considering the reasons, rules and emotions of why i did it.
- I considered our volunteer ethics, we should not let our emotion get the best of us in this situations and just do our job.
- so I decided to follow my emotion while also considering the reason...as a solution, I pointed my hose to this mans house while i also informed my team to focus on the other houses

- but at the same time, my emotion is telling me to help this man. i mean, there are other fire volunteers who can focus on the other houses while i take care of this one right?
