- "I heard you've been sick. Maybe you shouldn't go into the catacombs. It might make it worse. I'd hate for you to die."

- "Fortunato, are you sure you want to go down? It's awfully damp down there. The walls are covered in nitre."

- "Uh, so far away from here?"

- "For the love of God, Montresor, let me out! It's been a great joke, but we should go now!"
