  • Act 1 Scene 3 was the exposition and official start of Macbeth. Suddenly appearing out of nowhere, the 3 weird sisters give Banquo and Macbeth a prophecy. Macbeth would be named Thane of Cawdor then king. Banquo would not directly become king himself however his son would become the king. After giving the riddle-like prophecy, the sisters disappear. This very moment started the countdown to Macbeth's downfall. As he tells the greedy Lady Macbeth about the events that transpired, she devises a plan to kill King Duncan and make Macbeth the King
  • Act 2 Scene 2 was the rising action and climax of the play. After manipulations from Lady Macbeth and long contemplation, Macbeth kills King Duncan with a dagger. This dagger is brought up again multiple times throughout the story as a symbol of a guilty conscience and death. Macbeth becomes paranoid and is instantly filled with regret and anxiety while Lady Macbeth tells him to just wash away the sins. Shortly after this ordeal, Macbeth becomes king signaling the climax of the play.
  • Act 5 Scene 8 started at the tail end of the falling action and transitioned to the catastrophe of the play. With all the prior events leading up to this final moment, both Macbeth and Macduff were ready to fight to the death. For the first time, Macbeth was confident and his guilt of killing Duncan disappeared. Macbeth was deluded with the false knowledge that he was invincible hence he got overconfident even stating that he was as intrenchant as air. Macduff enraged and full of vengeance strikes down Macbeth ends his life.
