- Ram is a secondary sector worker. He owns a factory that processes the farm goods. He is in a crisis. Due to lockdown the interdependency of the three sectors has created a problem in his life. Let us find out his needs and find a solution.
- Hi Anuj! I have been in a trouble since last 6 months. As you know I own a factory that processes the farmed goods. I work in the secondary sector. But due to lockdown the farmers and the primary sectors have not supplied the goods to us and they have been utilizing it for their survival. So my factory has no work and my workers are also demanding for their wages but I have no money and I'm under loss. My family is also suffering. I'm finding it difficult to even pay my childrens' school fees. I am clueless about what's gonna happen in the future. Due to this the tertiary sector is also suffering.
- Hey Ram! What's the matter? You look very upset? Is everything fine?
- Before finding the solution to this, I want to understand the cause. Can you help me out?

- Ohh! So now I get the cause of my issue.
- So here we are Ram. This is a farmer's field. Farming is a primary activity. It produces the basic resource for further production. The secondary and the tertiary are completely dependent on the primary sector. In case the Farmer doesn't produce the yield, the secondary sector will be jobless, just like you are undergoing. Basically the farmer produces the yield, the industries process and lastly the tertiary sector provides transportation for the same. So this is how the primary sector plays an important role in the economy
- Ohh! now I get my role in the secondary sector economy
- And here is the secondary sector that you belong to. The secondary sector processes the goods that the primary sector produces. If there is no secondary sector or factories and industries to process it, the goods that the primary sector produces will go for a waste as they will not be processed for the consumer's use. This will also affect the tertiary sector as they will not have any goods to transport if the goods are not processed. Hence, the secondary sector also plays a very important role.
- Oh that's the reason why transporting agencies were demanding for processed goods
- Last but not the least, this is the tertiary sector which transports the goods that the secondary sectors process. This also plays a very important role. If this sector isn't there the goods that the primary sector produces and the goods that the secondary sector processes will get perished and the consumers will not receive the goods that are essential for their livelihood.
- This is how all the three sectors of the economy are interdependent. If one sector fails to due its duties the other two sectors will also be affected and might lead to unemployment. So you have to encourage the farmers to produce their yield and ask them to hand it over to you so that the other sectors won't get affected. Make them understand the interdependency of the three sectors and how they will get profited if they provide the yield to you. Without the consumer consuming the final goods and paying for it all the three sectors cannot earn for their efforts.
