Once upon a time in Germany there was a poor woodcutter, his wife and their 2 kids Hansel, and Gretel.A great famine struck the country and the woodcutter could no longer feed his family. He could barely feed himself, much less his children.
The wife has an idea to leave the children in the forest but the father doesn't like the idea. Eventually the wife convinces the father but Hansel and Gretel overhear them. When they try to leave the children in the forest Hansel lays down rocks. Once it is night Hansel and Gretel follow the rock path back home.
The wife isn't happy and convinces the husband to lead the children deeper into the forest the next day. The next day they give Hansel and Gretel each a piece of bread and lead them deeper into the forest. Hansel leaves a trail of bread but when they try to follow it at night they discover birds have eaten it. After a few day of wandering they come across a house made of bread
Gretel pushes the witch and burns her. Gretel gets Hansel and they leave the witch's house with jewels and pearls.
After they escape the witch's house they come across a river. They find a little duck that carries them across the river.
They find their house and reunite with their father now with plenty of pearls and jewels to help them buy food.
