- When the war started mom wanted us to leave Mareery, Somalia. as soon as possible. Dad didn't want to leave he wanted to help fight against the war, so mom just left him.
- I don't think Hassan knew what was going on yet, he just wanted to cheer me up. Seeing his smile definitely made that happen.
- While we were in the car driving to the airport, mom seemed really excited, which made me happy to see her so happy about trying a new thing.
- Before we got on the plane, I could tell Hassan was a little nervous; honestly I was more scared than him because, HOW DID THIS THING WORK! but I had to show Hassan "not to be afraid to try new things" so I told him that he could sit in the window seat to see the beautiful veiw.
- While we were in a taxi, I asked mom where we were.. she said "Los Angeles, California" I had always heard about this place on tv and I never thought I would be here.
- Mom was telling us about all the plans she had for us here, she wanted Hassan and I to go to school so we can become Animal Doctor's
- As we walk into our new home, mom says"Omar, Hassan, this is our new home, and were gonna have LOTS of fun!"
