  • House Profile displays price, square footage, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, amenities, and gives a range of down payment costs that will be used to set goals for savings and to teach mortgage options.
  • What are the 4 Cs?
  • The 4 Cs are capacity, capital, credit, and collateral.
  • To buy a house you must have income, savings, good credit, and collateral.
  • Emily's prologue. Each player profile offers a customized story line. Story lines are designed with baseline financial situation, employment, spending/saving choices to help learners apply concepts and lessons to prepare for home purchase.
  • You must visit Mrs. Smith to learn about the first C - capacity.
  • Come back when you have learned about capacity. We will help you in the quest.
  • It's Emily's 18th birthday.
  • Emily wants to make her dream of home ownership come true in one year. Each player profile establishes a timeline for the goal of home ownership. As the player progresses through the game, the timeline may be adjusted based on financial or market conditions.
  • But it's quite a challenge. First you must take the Quest of the 4 Cs of home ownership.
  • The Quest of the 4 Cs of home owners are Levels I - IV of the game. Each level teaches a concept and provides interactive graphical games that reinforces the lesson.
  • Emily sets out on the Quest of the 4 Cs of Home Ownership. When she learns the first C, she should return home for more help on the journey. Non-player characters provide educational content and instructions through the game.

  • When you are buying a house, the lender considers your ability or capacity to pay the mortgage loan and all your other bills. The lender examines your income, your other monthly payments and looks at your bank statements to see your saving and spending habits.
  • Emily finds her neighbor, Mrs. Smith, in distress because her dog is running away. Player must catch Oscar and return to Mrs. Smith.

  • Player completes a digital 'bean game type' activity that includes home ownership expenses.
  • After budgeting game, player is presented with games to earn income. Player must earn $500 to complete Level I.
  • Player chooses a job. Jobs are interactive graphical games. Example: "Clean Out the Garage" is a drag and drop hidden object style game. "Paint the Porch" is a click and drag drawing style game with a timer. Each level of the game requires earning income.

  • As the player completes the job, a celebratory screen pops up that illustrates earnings less expenses. Players make CHOICES to save money, pay bills or spend on other items. As the game advances, players will be required to pay bills.
