A small French town of 1346 resides peacefully with plenty of citizens and work to go around. Rumours have been spread that some Middle Eastern country got some sort of plague that wiped them out.
The same town a year later gets further rumours that the plague or some disease just crossed the Black Sea. Some people escape while others continue life.
Months later, rats start running around the same town. They are in alleyways, the walls of houses and have infested the town.
Many people leave the town, but the plague kills some of them before they can escape. After they escaped, most people died of the plague afterwards anyways.
It was the fleas carrying the bacteria Yersinia pestis that spread the plague. They were carried on rats to Europe.
The Black Death killed an estimated 25 million people in the late 14th century. It killed many people in European countries such as France and England
