  • George Washington And The Battle of Yorktown
  • During the Revolutionary War, in 1781, the Patriots were not faring well in the war. They were low on money and supplies, and Benedict Arnold had become a traitor.
  • The Continental Army began to attack General Cornwallis when they were in the Carolinas.
  • General Cornwallis decided to move his entire army to Yorktown, Virginia, in order to still be able to communicate with the British navy.
  • No sooner after he received James Armistead's report, General George Washington decided to trap Cornwallis there by shutting off all his escape routes.
  • Meanwhile, the French Naval Fleet surrounded the British at sea.
