- I’m so happy that you brought me to your job, Grandpa Benny, but what do you work as?
- Glad you asked, Timmy. I’m a historian! We study the past and find out how people lived. We also predict using research.
- That seems kind of boring. Do you use any tools?
- Well of course! We use charts, graphs, maps, and primary sources.
- Maybe we can ask your mother if you can come work with me during your spring break!
- Well, not exactly. For historians to be able to predict future events by studying the past, we must be able to think critically.
- Can you tell the future?
- And we can prevent something from occurring by studying what caused an event to happen and creating a plan to ensure it does not happen again.
- That’s so cool!
- No! I don’t want to leave! I want to stay here with you!
- Okay, kiddo. I have to take you home now. You have school tomorrow!
- Yayy! I want to be a historian just like you when I grow up!
