Karl Marx was the only child who survived out of 9 children. His dad was a successful lawyer and he and his parents were Jewish.
He was educated from 1830 to 1835 at the high school in Trier.
He participated in lots of stuff. But he and his friends spent the day in jail one day due to drinking. Lots of students were expelled but marx was lucky. But after that, in October 1836 enrolled at the university of Berlin to study law and philosophy.
The Hegelian pressure in the revolutionary student culture was powerful, however, and Marx joined a society called the Doctor Club, whose members were intensely involved in the new literary and philosophical movement.
"History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce." -Karl Marx
