  • Harriet knocked on her "usual" farmhouse, but the owner was so scared about them searching his place, he slammed the door in her face and rejected the fugitives.
  • William and Ellen Craft escaped...
  • At the next stop, Harriet was nervous to knock on the door, when she did, a man answered and he and his wife gladly led them all into the warm kitchen for them to stay.
  • Harriet started to notice that the fugitives were moving slower and slower and were exhausted.
  • Harriet Tubman told the fugitives the story of William and Ellen Craft and how they escaped.
  • Harriet carried a gun with her on these trips, but only to use as a threat.
