In July 1945 there was a Secret Manhattan Project. This then lead to the dropping of the first atomic bomb. This was a warning to Japan but, the Japanese ignored this warning.
USS Indianapolis was selected to deliver the bombs across the Pacific to the place where the attack would occur.
The Enola Gay was the first to be dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, this bomb called little boy instantly killed 70,000 people. Over a course of just a few months, radiation could continue killing many.
On August 9th of the same year, the atomic bomb called "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki. This killed over 40,000 people.
President Truman pondered that possibly dropping these bombs wasn't such a great idea on the United States behalf. He said it was a very hard decision to make.

After Japan surrendered, peace was settle. The people could go back to start living their normal lives, but it took a lot of all of the damages from war.
Things are starting to calm down and get better.
