Storyboard Text

  • My teacher keeps talking about some SOHCAHTOA stuff and I have no idea what that means!!
  • Hey I have an idea... I will teach you everything you need to know about SOHCAHTOA!
  • What does this phrase stand for though?
  • You use SOHCAHTOA when finding the angles of triangles when you know the side lengths.
  • Lets start with SOH. If "x" is the angle measure, SOH stands for Sin of X = the opposite side of the angle divided by the hypotenuse of the triangle.
  • CAH stands for Cosine of x = the adjacent side of the angle divided by the hypotenuse of the triangle.
  • Lastly, TOA means that the tangent of X = the opposite side of the triangle divided by the adjacent side of the triangle.
  • So, if I was looking for the Sine of where the heart is, I would do 5/6.
  • Yes you're right!!
