- my good shalwar kameez! we cant sell that!
- be like Malali!
- Mother and Nooria kept a pile of things so Father can sell them in the market, until they decided to sell Parvanas clothes. but Parvana wondered with anger on why they dont sell Nooria clothes, although she knows the reason already.
- Parvanas anger melted of when she saw Mother pick up clothes of hossain who was once her oldest son that died because of a landmine. they talked about how he was amazing and used to pick up and play with Parvana a lot.
- take care of the others, my Malali..
- Father liked to tell stories from the history of Afghanistan. he starts of by saying that the British wanted ti conquer Afghanistan until a small girl called Malali that led the Afghan troops to win this battle. he encourages his daughters to be as brave as Malali.
- the whole family was laughing until 4 Taliban's burst through the door. Ali screamed and went to the corner with Maryam, Mother fell to her feet, Nooria covered her self with her chador and scrunched herself into a ball, but Parvana stood there in shook.
- two of the soldiers grabbed Parvanas father, and the other two began searching the apartment. they began criticizing the father for going to England for education, and began hitting him and Mother effortlessly, Parvana hit the soldiers too, but they left.
- the other two soldiers started ripping the toshaks and tossing things everywhere. Parvana remembered Fathers books! she quickly threw herself at the soldiers which made them fall down, but they kept hitting her with a stick, Maryam then came to help.
