- Calpurnia...What does rape mean?
- Then why did Calpurnia get so dried up when I asked her?
- Scout! You cannot go back next Sunday.
- Scout asks Calpurnia what rape means and Calpurnia says that atticus can explain it better than she can.
- You must fire Calpurnia, you don't need her anymore.
- Calpurnia is a part of this family, and our family never survive without her.
- Scout asks Atticus, and he tells her, even though she doesn't understand she says nothing, then Scout asks why Calpurnia got so dried up .
- STOP IT BOTH OF YOU!!
- While Scout was asking Atticus, Jem and Scout's trip to the Calpurnia's church comes up, Aunt Alexandra was there and after she heard that she was horrfied and said this:
- I ran away from home because I wanted to spend the summer in Maycomb but my Step-father would not allow me...
- Later that day Aunt Alexandra tries to convince Atticus to fire Calpurnia , Atticus disagrees and they argue.
- Jem tells Scout to not antagonize Aunt Alexandra, Scouts get angry for Jem giving her a lecture so they start fighting, eventually Atticus breaks the fight up and tells them to go to bed.
- When Scout goes to bed she finds someone hiding under her bed, it was Dill, he ran away from home, anyways he ended up staying the night at the Finch's house and got to spend the summer in Maycomb, (after his aunt who lives in Maycomb was informed).
