The protagonist is the narrator. He is going up against the old man's creepy vulture looking eye. This story mainly takes place at night in an apartment. It's a dark, stormy and rainy night every night in the story.
The narrator goes to the old man's house every night thinking of when the best time is to kill him and how to do it. He does this at around midnight every night. He doesn't kill the man cause he can't see the eye cause the old man is always sleeping.
One night the narrator comes in same as always but in the process, startles the old man causing him to wake up. Cause the old man is awake, the narrator can see the eye so.......
He kills the old man while he was awake and it was dark so no one could see him, and he took the body apart piece by piece and hid the under the floor board. He thought he was in the clear, but one of the neighbors heard a noise so they called the police.
The narrator kept hearing a beating sound while the cops were investigating and he thought they could hear it too. He snapped and started yelling and confessing, and he told the cops EVERYTHING he did and has been doing.
A theme of a "Tell Tale Heart" is madness can make you do things you will regret later on.There is many many more but that was the one that really stuck out to me. The conflict of this story is mainly self v.s. self because he is constantly going back and forth with himself throughout the story.
