- Tea Cake and Janie are having a more deep time. Janie slept on him and he was stroking her hair. He really like her, but Janie sees him as a friend. Janie is surprised that he is attracted to her.
- Chapter 13
- I promise I will repay you.
- The town is shocked about the new relationship, but Janie does not care. The people are making rumors about their relationship and all kinds of stuff. Janie and Tea Cake love each other regardless of what Phoebe or the people say.
- Chapter 10
- Janie went to Jacksonville to visit Tea Cake. There he sees that Janie has 200$ and he takes it from her so that he could do a party for his friends. Janie does not go because he feels that the party was to low class for Janie.
- Chapter 11
- Tea cup says that he will provide for her and that she does not need to waste any money. He also gets hurt at night because he won a gambling game and his opponent got mad.
