thank god for potato or we wouldn't survive
the potato ! its all ruined
how will we survive now
Although there are many speculations to how the potato came to be in Ireland , many have speculated that it had washed up to shore from the shipwreck of the Spanish armada , which had sunken off the Irish coast in a violent storm .
what are we going to do ! almost all our food has been destroyed
im so hungryyy
we cant stay here much longer ! we'll die of hunger if we do
most of the irish population at the time had gron soley dependent on the potato as their sorce of food . Many had warned them that i wasent a good idea put all relience on only one item . but no one had listened
i'v become to sick to continue
In 1845 the worst possible thing had hit them . A potato famine caused by a unknown diseased which had lead to half the potatoes grown that year to be completely destroyed . The diseases resulted in the potatoes to going black , rotten , and causing the leaves of the crop to wither
i wonder what happened to my family . I hope they survived
we've survied the ride to USA maybe we can find food and a better life here
some have estimate that around 5000,00 - 1,100000 had died during the famine . Many Irish citizens had decided to migrate by boat to other country's in hope for better conditions
But not many had survived the ride and so these boats had been dubbed the 'coffin ships' . The conditions had been horrible due to the contaminated areas and the crowd on each transport .
But for the ones who had survived had been joyed they had made it alive and into the new land . although most had sorrow for they had known once they left they would most likely never return to their homeland or see there familys again .
