- Whiskey Rebellion
- Federal Judiciary Act of 1789
- Marbury vs Madison
- In 1791 farmers had started a rebellion over the tax of whiskey. The government sent soldiers to fight the farmers. It ended in 1794 and it showed that the government was strong as they put an end to the rebellion.
- Alien Act
- Some issues occurred with the judicial branch as they realized that it was underdeveloped. So, in 1789 George Washington passed an act which had led to the creation of federal courts.
- Sedition Act
- Marbury had been appointed to a new job, however his application had never been verified. This led to him suing the secretary of state which was James Madison. This case was taken all the way to the supreme court and both of their action were seen as unconstitutional. This led to the practice of judicial review.
- Louisianan Purchase
- John Adams passed this act which allowed the deportation of immigrants. This had created issues with the nation , the act was then repealed as it was unconstitutional.
- John Adams passed this act to stop people from speaking badly about the government. However, it was repealed as it violates the first amendment.
- The purchase was suppose to be only the New Orleans port and Mississippi river
