- Something bad has happened too Hassan, Amir isn't doing anything and Assef is the cause of everything

- I feel so guilty i could have helped i could have saved Hassan.

- Hassan and Amir are both from different cultures Amir is the rich one and Hassan is the poor one/ the slave
- The man vs. man conflict is presented by Amir's struggle against Assef throughout the novel. Initially, Amir is too frightened to save Hassan while he is being raped by Assef, which fills Amir with guilt for the majority of his life. Later on in the book, Amir returns...
- The Man vs. self is presented after Amir witnesses Hassan's rape he was too scared to step in to stop it, He avoids Hassan out of shame and guilt. He even yells out loud that Hassan got raped but everyone in the house was asleep
- Amir is from a ruiling Pashtun class and Hassan is from a servant class. Hassan is a slave and a member of a minority ethnic group in Afghanistan known as the Hazara. This ethnic group is considered lower in stature.
