- ‘Hey, Huia!’ dad would shout to Mum. ‘Those kina are calling out loud to me today!’ ‘So are the dishes,’ she would answer. ‘Okay, Huia. But those pipi are going to miss us today!’ ‘What are we waiting for? Can’t disappoint those pipi today!’ Kids get into your bathing suits and bring the knifes and the sugar-bags
- *Family gets to beach.* *Dad runs into water to join friends.* "Kids, don't go out to far!" dad says when he joins his friends who are looking for paua. *Mum goes to some of her friends and begins talking to them.* *Son and sisters go to special pool.*
- *Children find a seahorse (no seahorse image so it's a jellyfish)* *Children show father*"Dad can we keep it" begged the children. ‘If you take it from the sea it will die,’ Dad told us. ‘Leave it here in its own home for the sea gives it life and beauty.’ *They then decide to go home, mother says goodbye to friends, children put seahorse away and they go back home. *
- The next week...
- *Family hops out of car and father is confused because everyone is motionless* *Family goes to see what's up; father tries to crack a joke to break the ice* "Is the water cold or something?" joked dad. *Father looks at sign and clenches fists while son is confused* "What's wrong dad?" "First our land then our food." The cant fish anymore because the water is polluted.
- Danger! The water is polluted DO NOT eat any food from this beach.
