- John Adams was born October of 1735 to Deacon John Adams and Susanna Boylston. He was one of three children, and cousins with Samuel Adams.

- In 1755 he graduated Harvard College, having studied law instead of ministry.
- He defended the British officers involved in the Boston Massacre.

- In 1764 he married Abigail Smith, they had 6 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood.
- 1774-He was a Massachusetts representative in the First Continental Congress.
