On December 25th George Washington and his army crossed the icy Delaware River and got to the New Jersey side of Delaware just before dawn.

When George and his army reached the shore, he had the genius idea to burn the boats to stop the British from sending their troops across the river to fight.

The Americans surprised attacked the British Army. They captured 800-900, 83 were wounded, and 22 were killed. On the other hand the Americans only had 5 wounded soldiers and 2 froze to death.
The British retreat after loosing a lot of men. They morn their loss and help aid to their injured.
The British leader Johann Rall got seriously injured and later died.
The British surrendered which left the Americans with a victory. This was important because it boosted the Americans morale.
