Storyboard Text

  • Do you think that it is possible for a student who seems “not rather smart” to be quite successful academically with the help of his/her teacher and also with commitment and hard work?
  • Over the years we have all seen students with poor school performance making great progress mainly due to the constant support and encouragement by their teachers which engage them in the learning process and make them try harder.
  • It certainly requires time and effort for a teacher to discover their particular needs, learning styles and interests and create a relaxed and motivational environment where students do not feel anxiety or fear. In such a learning situation students can show their potential and with hard work and commitment they can have greatschool achievements. I believe that “every child is one caring adult away frombeing a success story.”
  • How do you help your student develop and strengthen their abilities?
  • As said before, encouragement and support are crucial in helping poor performance students believe in their abilities and strengths. This is why I think we should refrain from labeling learners as “good” or “bad” “smart” or not. I think we should try to establish a good relationship with our student from the very beginning of the school year.
  • I always try to know my students better. I believe that classroom discussions, learning about their interests or about their learning background give us insight on what works better for each student.
  • If we acknowledge our students as individuals,we will soon earn their trust. We should never forget to always listen carefully, speak respectfully, treat everyone fairly and greet our students by name and with a smile.
  • Do you think differentiation in teaching is necessary in your classroom?
  • I think that all students are different and to achieve effective learning there is the need for differentiating in teaching. It is thus very helpful to learn more on differentiated teaching and to hear other people’s views and experiences on the subject. In this way we can review past practices and grow new perspectives. I believe there is always room for improvement!
