Storyboard Text

  • Manifest Destiny is the belief that America was always going to move westward and expand. Some people believe in this, and others criticize this belief. I for one believe in this topic. Even if the Trail of Tears had never occurred, or the Indian Removal Act was never issued the population would have kept increasing, causing the towns to overpopulate and become very crowded.
  • If the towns were to overpopulate they would become crowded. This would cause an increase and poverty. So to avoid this the citizens would begin to expand to the west in order to survive.
  • Some would argue the fact that we don't know for sure if America was going to begin to overpopulate, so we have no way of knowing that they were always going to move west. But, eventually, settlers from other lands would come to join in on the claiming of the available land in the west. They would then most likely be considered to be American people. So my belief is that one way or another America would move westward
