  • uhhh excuse me? Who are you to tell me what I know and don't know?
  • I can argue all night bub!
  • Let's bet on it. We'll see how enlightened you truly are
  • Socrates

  • Cleisthenes
  • Welcome to Drunken Debates everyone! Im your host, The Bartender! Let's meet our stars for tonight's debate!
  • In order to truly understand what a Democracy is, y-you need to know the basic concepts of one...
  • Alright, the pro-democracy team may go first.
  • Why Democracy is great
  • The Individual has great importance in a Democracy. Sometimes however, the welfare of one or a few individuals is subordinated to the interests of all the vast majority in a Democracy. Overall, the individual has a say in any aspect, such as the voting in elections. Democracy must serve the many as a collection of ones, not just one big group.
  • Democracy may not be perfect, but it has great intentions. An important concept would be The Fundamental Worth of the Individual. Each Individual is a separate distinct being no matter what. Democracy insists that every person's worth and dignity must be recognized and respected,by all other individuals and society at all times.

  • Fundamental Worth of Individual
  • Do either of you have a rebuttal?
  • Why Democracy isn't all that great.
  • YES I DO, AND A GREAT ONE AT THAT!!
  • It is the principle that all forms of organization, regardless of how Democratic they may be at the start, will eventually develop oligarchic traits. The ultimate goal of eliminating elite rule is dang near impossible! An oligarchy is almost inevitable. Since most large and complex organizations can't function purely as a direct democracy, they rely on representatives.
  • Iron Law of Oligarchy
  • Your "Fundamental Worth" is simply a short term facade. Have you ever heard of the "Iron Law"?
  • In a representative democracy, a "leadership class" is formed with the use of administrators and executives. The elected have the final say over the electors. This ruling class will inevitably have more worth than the individuals who elected them
