  • Civil Rights Movement: Student Lead Campaign Nonviolent Protests November 28, 1959
  • Naesha Jackson 2nd Period English
  • This is not right. Something must be done about this. We need to have equal rights. 
  • A student lead campaign was held. They set up a scenario where they were yelling at each other to prepare them for their planned sit ins at the Diner. 
  • You n*ggers can't sit here. Get out!
  • On November 28, 1959 a group of students gathered to enter the Diner. They planned to sit at the counter that was for whites only.
  • They sat at the counter and attempted to order food. The waitress refused and got the manager. The manager said that no colored folks were allowed to sit at the counter.
  • This lead to more silent protests. Several people were arrested for protesting even though they were never violent.
