In march 1947 President Truman introduced the Federal Employees Loyalty and security Program. This order was the establishment of the Loyalty review board whose job it was to look into government workers and fire those who were disloyal Although “disloyalty” was never clearly defined, between 1947 and 1951, government loyalty boards investigated over 3 million employees, dismissing 212 of them as security risks. Individuals under investigation were not allowed to see the evidence against them or even to know who had accused them of being disloyal.
