- No one was that enthusiastic about moving west, but our father needed a better job to support our family.
- "How do you feel folks? It is officially our second month journeying west!"
- "Well, nothing lasts for long, especially good weather! Let's go to bed, we do not want to be cold and wet!"
- As we were eating our beef, rice, and beans, it started to rain buckets.
- BOOM!!! I woke up and heard a pounding noise outside. I looked out of the wagon and saw my oxen running around in fear.
- "Nnnhhhhhh!"
- "My precious oxen!"
- "We need to get them quickly!"
- The next morning...
- "We must collect the oxen soon. I am worried that Indians will steal them, like they did to Frank Smith."
- I devised a plan and made my brothers carry it out. Peter helped locate the leader, while Edward rounded up the horses.
- Good thing I figured something out, when we left, I saw figures lurking in the shadows.
- We found all of our ninety oxen and continued on our journey. I will remember this day for the rest of my life.
