In the first chapter of this book scout goes to her first day of school and when Miss Caroline starts accusing Scout because she already knows how to read and scout starts to argue with Miss Caroline. After that Miss Caroline finds out that Walter has no money for food and she tries to lend him some money but he rejects the money because he knows that he won't be able to pay her back because his family is broke and Scout points that out.
Chapter 6 Jem leaves his pants behind
In this chapter Walter gets invited to eat with Jem's family and he goes he starts eating like crazy and scout starts commenting about how he eats and even says how he does not have a lot of money. He then starts talking about how him and his family go out to hunt animals so that they can eat and Atticus seems surprised about everything that Walter said. the reason that Walter is was invited was because Scout got into a fight with him at school.
Chapter 8 Miss Maudie's house burns down
In chapter 4 Scout is running back from school and then runs past the Radley Place when the reflection of a Wrigley's chewing gum wrapper catches her eyes. She then goes to the gum that is in a hole in the tree and takes it out she takes it back to the her porch and examines it she smell's it licks it and then after that she just stuffs it into her mouth and starts chewing.
Chapter 11 Mrs. Dubose death
In this chapter Jem, Scout, and dill go to the Radley place and end up going back becuas ether was a shadow that appered out of nowhere and they all got so scared that they ended up running away and when it was Jem's turn to go under the fence his pants where left stuck on the fence and he left without his pants. Mr. Radley also shot up in the air to scare away anyone who was there at his place.
In chapter 8 Miss Maudie's house burns down and she does not seem to be worried at all when she sees her own house burn down to the ground. Later on when she is seeing she says that she has always wanted a smaller house because she would have more yard for her flowers. Also when Scout is going away form the fire Mr. Radley secretly wraps a blanket over her.

In the final chapter of part one Mrs. Dubose dies because she was a morphine addict and had been suffering pain for the last couple of years and before she died she wanted to overcome that addiction of morphine before she died and she did but unfortunately she died. Atticus later said that in order to see what real courage is not using a gun, but fighting for a cause you believe in even if you know you probably won't win.
