- Okay...
- After Kwame and his brother Ekon got captured they ended up here.At first they didn't think it would be as bad as everyone said,little did they know they had been bought by the infamous John Cooper, the most abusive slave owner at the time.
- Come on Ekon we have to go work on the crops...
- Kwame was usually abused verbally and phisically every single day, while his brother never recieved any punishment, this was because Kwame told John to punish him and not his brother.
- WHAT IS TAKING YOU SO LONG?! I suggest you start working soon or i'll have to whip you.
- Yes sir..
- This will end one day... i hope.
- Kwame and Ekon had to work non-stop 15 hours a day and they only got around 3 hours of sleep.

- Most favoured by slave owners were commercial crops such as olives, grapes, sugar, cotton, tobacco, coffee, and certain forms of rice that demanded intense labour to plant, considerable tending throughout the growing season, and significant labour for harvesting.

- If they were caught, any number of terrible things could happen to them. Many captured fugitive slaves were flogged, branded, jailed, sold back into slavery, or even killed. Not only did fugitive slaves have the fear of starvation and capture, but there were also threats presented by their surroundings.
- We should escape this place and try to make a new life for ourselves.
