- Farmers were angry when whiskey was beginning to be taxed. Whiskey was solely made from corn and they didn't think a tax fee was necessary so they started a rebellion. Although Washington was quick to respond, he led a military force to put down the rebellion. This showed that our nation was strong and our government was ready to put down a rebellion when necessary.
- Alien Act
- You may not colonize here.
- Congress passed the Federal Judiciary Act of 1789. It established 13 district federal courts and 3 circuits courts of appeal. States had own courts but federal courts could overturn the decision.
- Sedition Act
- This case allowed the Supreme Court to review decisions and decide if they are constitutional or unconstitutional. Also it allowed the Supreme Court to establish judicial review.
- Louisiana Purchase
- At the time Americans did not like immigrants. So they passed the alien act, which allowed the president to to deport or imprison immigrants.
- Just as the alien act they passed the sedition act because they didn't like immigrants. Which did not allow them to speak out against the government.
- The Louisiana purchase doubled the size of the United States. Thomas Jefferson bought this land for 15 million dollars in 1803.
