- Jesus said prayers of blessing over a cup of wine and they all drank the wine after.
- Jesus and the Apostles passed around a basin of water, each washing his hands to purify himself before eating the holy meal.
- Another cup of wine was then passed around as a sign of celebration, while the story of the Passover was recalled.
- All sang the first two of five Psalms about God’s love, mercy and power (Psalms 113–118).
- Jesus then took loaves of unleavened bread, broke them and gave pieces to the Apostles.
- Jesus and the Apostles left the house to go to the Mount of Olives.
