Dr. Jose Rizal was exiled to Dapitan on July 17, 1892. Rizal was offered by Father Pablo Pastelles to live in the the Parish convent in Dapitan if he will retract his words but Rizal didn't agree with their condition.

Rizal lived with the Spanish Commander Captain Carnicero, but can go anywhere in Dapitan despite his exile. All he has to do is report to Captain Carnicero once a week.

June 26, 1892 Dr. Jose Rizal arrived in Manila, Philppines from Europe via Hong Kong, accompanied by his sister Lucia and then proceed to Malacanang Palace to meet Lieutenant-General Eulogio Despujol. Suddenly, he was arrested by the officials.

Trinidad entered the cell to fetch her mother. As they were leaving Rizal whispered that "there is something inside the alcohol cooking stove" Trinidad understood. This "something" was Rizal's farewell poem.

Dr. Jose Rizal was executed by firing squad by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion, on December 30, 1896, at Bagumbayan Field in Manila and now known for Luneta Park.
