Storyboard Text
In the year 1347, the bubonic plague, often referred to as "Black Death", came to Europe from China.
The plague came from fleas who lived on rats. The rats then boarded ships.
It was transferred on to humans from flea bites.
When the ships arrived in Messina, Italy, many of the sailors on board were found dead. The ships were ordered to leave, but it had already spread.
After that, it quickly spread throughout Europe.
The plague killed millions of people in Europe. Villages and towns were devastated by the plague, with famine also playing a big role.
