Storyboard Text

  • Harlem, NY was a city that many African Americans lived because of the jobs. They were segregated from with people but the whites were upset that the blacks were taking over Harlem. They eventually moved out of Harlem.
  • W.E.B. Du Bois led the Great Migration and was a very influential Black Rights Activist. He was the first African American to earn a PH.D. from Harvard University and he also co-founded the NAACP.
  • I founded the NAACP
  • Many African-American people made a lasting impact on the culture and art within Harlem, such as Countee Cullen, and the Cotten Club. They were musicians.
  • Louis Armstrong and Eubie Blake were two leading musicians of the Harlem Rensassance
  • The Harlem Renaissance ended with the stock market crash of 1929. Because of that, residents had to leave Harlem and find work somewhere else.
  • Where will we work now?
  • The Harlem Renaissance gave the blacks a chance to show off their artistic talents. Because of this, many famous singers and musicians became famous.
