- Lucy and Rachel are Esperanza's friends. Lucy is kind and respectful. Rachel is sassy and confident. But they are both friendly.

- Mama and Papa are Esperanza's parents. They are loving, caring, and supportive of their children. They are also hard workers and dreamers.
- Sally is Esperanza's friend who is a bad influence. Sally is bold, confident, and careless about Esperanza. Sally is also a mean and selfish person.
- Marin is Esperanza's friend. She is bold, helpful, and she dreams of love and romance. But she is also immature and a troublemaker which makes her a bad influence on Esperanza.
