  • Citizen 13660 by Mine Okubo
  • Fortune magazine's editors helped Mine find an apartment. Mine showed them her drawings and they were so impressed that they dedicated an illustrated article to interment camps on a national magazine
  • Mine's work and experience was well known by everyone in the nation. Walter Cronkite, the most trusted man in the news, gave his entire nationally televised CBS program to interview with Mine.
  • Mine added captions to her pictures and created a book called Citizen 13660. It was published in 1946
  • Mine toured the country to tell her story.
  • The Oakland Museum hosted a retrospective of her work. Riverside college named her Alumna of the Year. She was featured as one of the twelve women pioneers in The History of California. She received D.C.'s National Museum for women in the Arts' Women's Caucus for Art Honor Award.
  • When Mine died her obituary appeared in newspapers from New York to New Zealand. She is invisible no longer.
