- Tone
- "Here the silhouette in paint of a man growing a lawn Here as in a photograph, a women bent to pick flowers. Still farther over, their images burned on the wood in one titanic instant, a small boy, hands flung into the air; higher up, the image of a thrown ball and opposite him a girl, hands raised to catch a ball that never came down."pg 308 The author is trying to draw a picture for the reader and help him understand how these people had no idea on what was going to happen next and how it would all be gone..
- Mood
- The dog whined, shivering, on the front porch. The author wants you to feel bad for the dog because the dog is alone and scared and abended. The dog is suffering by himself with no one and nothing to rely on. Page 308
- Personification
- "The house was an alter with ten thousand attendants, big, small, servicing, attending, in choirs." I used this quote to explain how the house was like an alter because of how many people help keep this place clean and all good looking and in this case its the robots keeping things clean in the house. (pg 308)
- Theme
- Who goes their? What's the password?" and getting no answer from lonely foxes and whining cats,..." It talks about how in the story it talks about how a voice in concerned on a noise it heard and he wants to know who or what it is and it also adds a lot of suspense and eeriness to this whole seen at makes it a kind of skeptical scene where their is a lot of eeriness in the tone and suspense i feel like. Page 308
- "The fire rushed back into every closet and felt of the clothes hung there." In this part of the story in talks about how the fire runs back into the house and it makes it seem like the fire really grew legs and ran inside the house when really all it did was spread all over the house. Page 312
- Technology is becoming more powerful as time passes and it makes it more life that is becoming more advanced and the world is going to go on more reliant on technology. "Within the wall, a last voice said, over and over again and again, even as the sun rose to shine upon the heaped rubble and steam:"Today is August 5, 2026, today is August 5, 2026, today is ..." Page 313
