- I need you to to describe me the steps or stages I went trough before I was born.
- Sure , what's your homework about?
- So I met your Dad at a party and he loved my personality, five years later we got married and went through sexual reproduction in order to create you.
- How so?
- Well, it's about genetics and genes. I had an egg inside of me which was ready to receive a sperm from your dad, both of these are gametes, haploid cells necessary for reproduction/creating new mermaids and mermens. That process was called fertilization
- May you go into detail?
- Cool, but we;re also talking about this "punnet square" or whatever and to be honest, I don't get it
- The egg and the sperm were created with the meisosis process, so our chromosomes were divided independently in such way that you got half genetic material from dad and me, following the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment. Homologous chromosomes went through crossing over, exchanging segments.

You can understand it by looking it this way, my friend who's a scientist used it to predict your genotype and phenotype with alleles from your dad and me. to meassure the probability of you getting dominant or recessive traits by the law of dominance, it was right! - The green tail and dark hair you have are dominant and the red tail and light hair from your father are recessive which you don't have
