- No one knew what they were doing when they laid out all these streets! @#%* Nothing makes sense!
- It makes perfect sense since the whole city is on a grid...
- Lost in New York City
- My mother gasped...she flew past the bus driver. We could hear her steps as she ran to the back.
- LUCAS!!
- You got what you deserved!
- Lucas is a wounded warrior. As Doug and his family walk back to the truck, they get caught in a STOP THE WAR in Vietnam protest. The protesters spew words of hate at Lucas and even spit on him. Lucas sits silent and takes the abuse.
- I'm FREEZING back here! I wish I was inside to talk to Lucas. These stupid bumps! These stupid shocks! Lucas must be really hurting!
- How are we going to get Lucas out of the pick up, especially without hurting him more??
- Doug, if you wheel that thing below me, maybe I could sort of fall into it.
- Lucas cracks this joke to lighten things up. Doug realizes that he's just kidding, but thinks there's nothing funny about missing your legs.
- Anytime Lucas. Whatever you want!
- Christopher is finally "named"...the reader comes to know him as more than just a "twisted criminal mind". In this scene he shows brotherly love in helping Lucas in his transition home.
