Battle of Fallen Timbers
The American settlers came to the North West Territory to invade the Native Americans' land. This lead to many disputes between each other.
Washington ordered his military force, led by Anthony Wayne. Their plan was to protect the American settlers from any Indian attacks.
August 20, 1794- A battle between American soldiers and the Indians. They succeeded in victory and a new American policy was formed. This policy stated, "any newly acquired territories would be defended with the use of military force against Indian attacks.
This battle enforced a National plicy of using military force to keep rebellious tribes under contoll.
In the end, Tribes that lived in present-day Ohio and Indiana were forced to sign the Treaty of Greenville. This gave American Settlers free reign to take over their homes/ land.
