- The Patriots ambushed the Hessians (by crossing the Delaware), and gave the Continental Army morale to show that they could win.

- The retreat got changed into a victory! Britain mostly left New Jersey afterward. Washington demonstrated his leadership.

- Another major loss, Philadelphia got captured. Washington failed to defend it. It was a very long and bloody battle that ended the Patriots winning streak.
