  • On August 27, 1776 the Battle of Long Island began in Brooklyn. It was the biggest loss for Washington. He lost 20% of his army.
  • Brandywine
  • On Christmas day 1776 Washington and 2,400 of his soldiers crossed the Delaware River. The Battle of Trenton began on December 26, 1776. This was a win for the Americans.
  • Saratoga
  • On January 2, 1777 the Americans did a night march to Princeton. On January 3, 1777 the British and the American fought at the Battle of Princeton. This was another win for the Americans.
  • Summary
  • On September 11, 1777 the Battle of Brandywine began. The British won this war. The British were also able to take Philadelphia on September 26, 1777. This war ended America's winning streak.
  • There were two battles of Saratoga. The first part was September 19, 1777 called Battle of Freeman. It was a British win. The second part of the Battle was October 7, 1777. It was known as the Battle of Bemis Heights. This was an American win. It was also a major turning point in the American Revolution, this brought us help from the French.
  • After suffering a loss at Long Island, they went to Trenton and Princeton and took two wins. Then they went to Philadelphia and took a loss and lost the capital. The last war was Saratoga which was a huge turning point for the Patriots.
