Storyboard Text

  • TITLE:
  • PARAPHRASE:
  • I got this.
  • RIde, boldly ride if you seek for Eldorado
  • CONNOTATION:
  • Hopeful, youthful, sad, insightful
  • ELDORADO: Before I read the poem, I thought that Eldorado was the name of a cultural holiday or celebration.
  • ATTITUDE:
  • The poem is about a young man searching for Eldorado. He grows old and loses hope for finding it. Then, he meets a ghost who tells him he has to die in order to reach the "land of our hearts desires."
  • SHIFT:
  • The poem's literal meaning is to press on even if you don't find what you are looking for. Words that convey tha meaning are journeyed, strength, bold, failed, etc.
  • THEME:
  • In the beginning the attitude is youthful, glad, hopeful, and exciting. Towards the end, the attitude is hopeless, sad, downcast, and gloomy.
  • There is a shift in the poem's mood when the knight loses hope and grows old.
  • To me, the poem's theme is to not try to find the land of our hearts' desires in this world and even if you get discouraged, keep pressing on.
