This is where the story starts. The boy is running away from his boarding school because he hates it. This is a very important part of the story because it sets the scene and introduces a character.

The boy meets an old lady while accidentally stepping in her property but she takes pity on him and gives him food. Then she tells him about Bertie and the lion. This scene is important because it introduces the main characters.
As a boy, bertie was made a compound and he played in there. but he longed to play outside, in the savanna. This part is most important as it introduces bertie, the main character, and explains his life and backstory.
One evening – Bertie must have been about six years old by now – he was sitting high up in the branches of his tree. Then he saw that she was not alone. Behind her, came what looked like a lion cub – but it was white, glowing white in the gloom of dusk. This part is important because this is where the lion cub is introduced.
The lion cub is surrounded by hyenas, he is alone because bertie's father killed the cub's mother. This part is important because it shown the life of the lion cub.
Fortunately, bertie's mother helped him rescue the cub and they brought him home. They gave the cub a bath and some milk. This part is a very crucial part in the story because this is the beginning of their friendship.
