Storyboard Text

  • Once families arrived, they were met with a barren village. They were forced to dye their clothes to remove all identity and cut their hair. Their first work assignment was to build their own home out f straw, leaves and twigs.
  • Long, grueling work days in the field followed. The cultivation of rice was the main food being produced. Disease and bugs flowed through the water where the rice grew.
  • Starvation was also common. Young children would attempt to get food to provide for their families, but if they were caught they would be beaten, killed, or sent for reeducation. The surroundings of these villages and farms would become mass graves.
