- Although he couldn't bear to leave Faith, Goodman Brown set off on his own to the forest.Forest is the symbol of the unknown, which means that Brown also did not know the destination of the journey.
- Goodman Brown met a man of about fifty with a black staff that like a serpent and an elderly woman, who was a witch, on his way to his destination. The staff that like a serpent is the symbol of the evil, which means that Brown underwent the temptation of this man.
- What made Goodman Brown desperate was not the sound of various people coming from the sky, but Faith's pink ribbon fluttering down trough the air.The pink ribbon is the symbol of innocence. This fallen pink ribbon represents that Faith had lost her innocence while the innocence went into an evil place.
- When Goodman Brown arrives at the place where good people and bad people have gathered to worship the fiend, he finds Faith among them.The communion is the symbol of the gathering of the unholy. It means that all people have the evil of human nature.
