Katie has questions about the time she and her family were involved with Cafcass. Katie decided to ask Cafcass what information they can tell her.
March 2021
So she wrote an email to Cafcass and asked for all of her information, this is called a Subject Access Request (SAR)She attached her ID and proof of address to help Cafcass find her information.
Miranda can you call me on Tuesday at 12pm so we can talk about my SAR please?
Response to your SAR
Miranda is a Customer Services Officer at Cafcass and she was happy to read Katie's email. Miranda started looking for Katie's information straight away and started the SAR.
At the end of 1 month, Miranda sent an email to Katie with all of the documents that Katie was allowed to see. Along with a letter attached which explained all about her SAR. Katie's SAR included lots of documents with all the information about why Katie's family went to court
Katie had some questions about her SAR and Miranda arranged a Microsoft teams call to answer the questions as best as she could. Katie was confused about the local authority check and who had written some information about her. Miranda was able to answer this question and refer Katie to the correct agency to get further information.
Katie has also seen some mistakes in a document and Miranda was able to take the information from Katie and pass it to a Data Protection Officer to take this issue forward. Katie knows that she can contact Miranda at any time if she has any questions and she will be happy to help as much as she can.
